Monsoon Session: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha face disruptions, adjourned till July 31

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced disruptions on Friday over demands of opposition members related to the Manipur situation due to which both Houses were adjourned till 31 July. As soon as the Lower House met at 11 am, the opposition members were on their feet demanding an immediate discussion on the no-confidence motion moved by the Congress against the Modi government.

 

Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla  asked the opposition MPs to take part in the proceedings.


"Don't you want to allow the House to function? Question Hour, where government replies to the questions of the members, is very important," Birla said.


Amid the protests, Lok Sabha was able to pass three bills, National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023, Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023 and National Dental Commission Bill, 2023 during the session on Friday.

 

While on the other hand, Rajya Sabha saw strong protests from the opposition due to which the session was adjourned till Monday.

 

Opposition party members raised slogans over their demands related to Manipur situation.The opposition parties have been protesting in the House over their demand for a detailed discussion on the Manipur situation and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
